A particular emphasis is placed upon adding new and lesser-known artists and on the coverage of foreign-language literature. Approximately 13,000 new entries are added each year.
ARTbibliographies Modern covers all aspects of modern and contemporary art, including performance art and installation works, video art, computer and electronic art, body art, graffiti, artists' books, theater arts, crafts, jewelry, illustration, and more, as well as the traditional fine arts of painting, printmaking, sculpture, and drawing.
This web version of the database covers volume years 1974 to the present.
Also known as: | International Repertory of the Literature of Art (RILA) | Répertoire d'Art et d'Archéologie (RAA) |
As of April 1, 2010 the Bibliography is accessible directly from The Getty website. Note that the database search includes both BHA (covering 1990-2007) and the International Bibliography of Art (IBA), covering the years 2008 and part of 2009. The Répertoire de la litterature de l'art (RILA), one of the predecessors of BHA, with records that cover 1975–1989, will be online by May 1, 2010.
These records were created in 2008-2009, and cover scholarship up to 2009, including retrospective records for material published in previous years. ProQuest will be building on this by adding new records going forwards, ensuring unbroken coverage of indexed journals.
For earlier records, see the Bibliography of the History of Art.
