Databases for Nursing - Try These First

The following databases are key for nursing topics. For more nursing resources, visit the University of Alberta Nursing Subject Guide.

Library Catalogue

Use the NEOS Library Catalogue if you are looking for:

  • Books* on a certain topic
  • A specific book and you know the title and/or the author
  • A specific journal article and you already have a citation

*Most of the items in the catalogue are books and periodicals (print and electronic), but there is also audio-visual material and more.

Peer Reviewed Journals

To determine whether a journal is peer reviewed, search for it in Ulrich's Periodicals Directory and look for the little referee symbol:

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you need an article that's not available in the University of Alberta Libraries collections, please use the Interlibrary Loan service.
