The basics
Examples in this research guide [look on the drop-down menu from the Cite and Write tab] are resources cited using the style conventions from the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) (also called the 'APA manual'). You can find a copy of the APA manual in the Winspear Business Library at call number PE 1475 A52 2010.
- Complete references are listed alphabetically in the References section at the end of your paper. You should provide enough information so that the reader of your paper can find the resources cited in your paper.
- Use italics for titles of references such as books, reports, journals and magazines. Italicize only the volume numbers for journals or magazines, not the issue or page numbers, for example Marketing Magazine, 110(16), 3.
- Insert one space following punctuation including periods, commas and semicolons. Abbreviations are an exception, U.S. not U. S.
- Use hanging indents for each reference. Indent references 1/2 inch from the second line on.
- The bibliography is titled 'References' and should be double-spaced.
