European Union Law Resources  

The European Union (EU) is a union of 27 independent states based on the European Communities and founded to enhance political, economic and social co-operation. It was formerly known as the European Community (EC) or European Economic Community (EEC).

Description

The European Union (EU) is a union of 27 independent states based on the European Communities and was founded to enhance political, economic and social co-operation. It was formerly known as the European Community (EC) or the European Economic Community (EEC).

The European Union was founded on November 1st, 1993 when the Treaty on European Union came into force.

This guide covers secondary sources (dictionaries, encyclopedias, books and journals), primary materials (legislationand cases) as well as key databases and research guides.
