Getting Started

Statistics are a type of information obtained through mathematical operations on numerical data. Data are collected through research or through administrative record-keeping; summaries of these data are usually called statistics. "Statistics" is also a subject discipline.

This guide shows how to obtain statistics through the Library Catalogue or by using the Internet. For information on statistics as a field of study, contact the Dept. of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences Statistics Centre. For information on digital social science research data, contact the Data Library.

This page shows how to search the Library Catalogue to find statistical sources. Click on the tabs above to access statistics directly from Library Databases or the Internet.
