This daily newspaper was founded in 1903, before Alberta was established as a province. Coverage includes local, provincial, national and international events. In 1938, the Pulitzer Prize for public service was awarded to The Edmonton Journal for its leadership in the defense of the freedom of the press in the Province of Alberta.
